El comprender qué es el turismo sustentable y su relación con la industria hotelera es de gran importancia en el mundo contemporáneo. La creciente conciencia ambiental y necesidad de un desarrollo más equitativo y sostenible de la industria de la hospitalidad, no solo abre el camino de una licenciatura prometedora, sino también involucra a los estudiantes con el compromiso proactivo de preservar el medio ambiente, el bienestar de las comunidades locales y la rentabilidad de las organizaciones turísticas.
Al estudiar Turismo sustentable y gestión hotelera los docentes enseñan a los estudiantes las estrategias en el control del impacto negativo del turismo en el medio ambiente. En un mundo donde los recursos naturales son limitados, es esencial desarrollar prácticas y políticas que fomenten la conservación de la biodiversidad, el uso responsable del agua y de la energía, así como la reducción de desechos, obteniendo dividendos extraordinarios.
Estudiar esta disciplina proporciona a los estudiantes las herramientas necesarias para diseñar y administrar destinos turísticos y propiedades hoteleras que respeten y preserven el entorno natural.
El turismo sustentable junto con una gestión hotelera tiene el potencial de generar un desarrollo económico y social significativo dentro de las comunidades. Al incluir prácticas sustentables en la operación de los hoteles y destinos de viaje, se logra crear empleos, fortaleciendo así la economía local y preservando las tradiciones culturales. El estudiar Turismo, implica descubrir cómo identificar y cubrir necesidades locales e internacionales para el beneficio mutuo de México y del mundo.
Hoy en día, es crucial en la formación de profesionales en turismo sustentable y gestión hotelera garantizar que los egresados cuenten con la capacidad de enfrentar los desafíos ambientales, sociales y económicos que plantea el turismo contemporáneo. Esta disciplina ofrece una visión holística del turismo que supera las expectativas y crea nuevos modelos de desarrollo, privilegiando un desarrollo equitativo por medio de agentes de cambio que contribuyen a futuro de turístico más próspero y armonioso.
